Creekside Vinyl, Faversham’s independent record shop

Creating a website which captures the atmosphere of a record shop and the personality of its owner

Creekside Vinyl is an independent record shop in Faversham and one of only a few in Kent selling primarily new records. It’s owned by music lover Simon Tyler who is passionate about his shop and sharing his knowledge and love of music with his customers.

When Simon took over the shop over a year ago, he hastily organised an ‘off the peg’ website from an on-line website maker. But before long, he became very frustrated with the look of the site and the rigidity of how he could use it. So, Simon decided to bite the bullet and start again with a local web designer and commissioned Bryter Digital to do the work.

It was important to Simon that Creekside Vinyl’s website reflected the atmosphere of the shop – which is about enjoying music and taking time to browse, listen and learn a little more about music and LPs.

To accommodate this on the site, we incorporated a ‘New Releases’ page as well as a ‘Recommended’ page. Simon can upload and post LPs he wants to talk about and encourages visitors to the site to comment and post their views and opinions.

In addition, we included a ‘News’ page containing blogs and news from Simon and Creekside Vinyl – which also encourages people to comment and engage.

For the ultimate flavour of what’s playing in the shop and currently recommended by Simon, we created a Spotify section which Simon keeps up to date with weekly playlists.

It was important that all these elements connected with Creekside Vinyl’s social media platforms, providing another way for customers and the public to engage with the business and its website.

Bryter Digital provides in-house professional photographers, another service our clients find extremely useful. We were able to take exactly the photos Simon wanted to showcase the shop and its records.

At Bryter Digital we make sure a website is future-proof and built to last. In anticipation that one day Creekside Vinyl may start selling records on-line, we have built a shop facility into the backend of the website. We also make sure the site is very easy for Simon and his team to update and we’re at the end of the phone to help if we’re needed.

Simon says: “It’s safe to say I’m not a massive technology fan! So, when I asked Bryter Digital to create a website for Creekside Vinyl I knew I was buying into the expertise of a team that would be able to teach me how to use the website and also help if I get things wrong! Jack and the team have been incredibly patient and helpful and were very keen to ensure that I was happy with the end result. Which I am!

My smart new website is a wonderful extension of the shop and helps ensure Creekside Vinyl reaches those people who find it difficult to visit. The finished site is easy to navigate, interesting and with plenty for the music lover to engage with and explore.”

The final piece in the jigsaw is making sure people come across the website when they’re searching the internet. Bryter Digital uses a variety of tactics to optimise search engine optimisation to make sure as many people as possibly visit Creekside Vinyl’s lovely new site.

At Bryter Digital we believe it’s extremely important to listen to our clients and help them decide exactly what they want to achieve with their website. We will never deliver a ‘one size fits all’ solution. We enjoyed the brief we received from Simon and embraced the opportunity of creating a site which expresses his passion for music and enables him to share it with the public.

If you enjoy Music and or Vinyl, head over to Creekside Vinyl’s Website, you’ll find something worth staying for.
